Re: [MFP] ?'s Re: U.S.-based Group Loans for Immigrants

Hi Madi,

Have you looked into Mission Assets Fund (MAF)? They may be a good organization to connect with: https://missionassetfund.org/lending-circles

And, of course, Jeff Ashe is doing fascinating work on diaspora savings groups in the U.S.

Colleagues,

I've been asked to advise a group starting a group-based loan program to help low-income people living in my city in the U.S. secure legal status. I would tremendously appreciate:

- information on group-based loan programs in the U.S. focused on immigrants,

- sample bylaws for such programs,

- links to videos of how autonomous or semi-autonomous lending and savings groups work. (These are to help the advisory group for the program understand a bottom-up approach.)

Thanks so much for any information that you might share.

Best wishes,

Madi Hirschland
