Re: [MFP] MCWG releases 'Model Law' guidelines for consumer protection

Thanks Bruce! This is very helpful as we are focusing on linking informal Savings Groups to formal financial Services across Africa. The topic comes out now and again and is a must included in these efforts.

Subject: [MFP] MCWG releases 'Model Law' guidelines for consumer protection

Colleagues,
The Microfinance CEO Working Group has just published an important new framework of suggested legislation for financial consumer protection in the microfinance and broader financial inclusion industry.  Entitled Client Protection Principles: Model Law and Commentary for Financial Consumer Protection, the Model Law offers real, actionable guidelines and tools for helping to ensure that client protection principles can be embedded into the fabric of the microfinance industry. Please find the press release here, and commentary from Alex Counts of Grameen Foundation on the Center for Financial Inclusion at Accion blog, here.
Regards,
Bruce MacDonald
