[MFP] Fireside chat with Ben Powell, the Founder and CEO of Agora Partnerships, on April 7th in Washington, DC

If you are interested in economic development, impact investing, and entrepreneurship as a way to poverty alleviation - this event organized by DC Microfinance Meetup may be of interest. You can RSVP for this free event here. Please see full description below.

"Join a community of like-minded people for a complimentary after work happy hour to discuss current and future trends in financial inclusion and impact entrepreneurship.

Our next speaker is Ben Powell - the Founder and CEO of Agora Partnerships.

Ben started as a co-founder of a small family entertainment park in Mexico, where he became convinced that the power of entrepreneurship can lift people out of poverty.

"A former presidential fellow with master's degrees from Columbia Business School and Georgetown's Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service, Powell founded Agora Partnerships to meet the needs of the "missing middle," companies that are too large for microfinance lending but too small for traditional banks." - DevEx

DevEx recently named Ben one of the top 40 under 40 development leaders in Washington, DC.

Katie Torrington, Senior Manager of Special Projects at FINCA International, will be moderating the discussion.

Ms. Torrington leads critical new business projects with an emphasis on introducing non-financial services. She also oversees FINCA's client protection work and is an active member of the Social Performance Task Force, which ensures high standards of customer service and transparency in the microfinance industry. Ms. Torrington serves on the Board of Directors for Women Advancing Microfinance International and formerly facilitated the SEEP Network Social Performance Working Group. Prior to FINCA, she worked for The Caribbean Project on microenterprise development. Ms. Torrington holds a Masters degree in International Development from American University.

Special thanks to our hosts at the 1776 startup incubator for providing their venue in the heart of downtown DC."

Thank you!
Vera
