[MFP] Master's of Science assistantship in microfinance available at Purdue University

 

Master of Science (M.S.) Assistantship 

International Economic Development and Microfinance

Department of Consumer Science

Purdue University

 

Graduate Assistantship

One M.S. assistantship in international economic development will be available beginning August 2014 in the Department of Consumer Science at Purdue University in West Lafayette, IN. This assistantship will support a student to work with Dr. Jonathan Bauchet to study microinsurance in developing countries and/or financial literacy among low-income populations in the United States. Support will be available for two years, including an assistantship of $13,300/year, a tuition waiver, and health insurance. The student should expect some reasonable teaching responsibilities. West Lafayette is located an hour north of Indianapolis, IN and two hours south of Chicago, IL, and has a low cost of living.

Minimum Requirements

      A bachelor’s degree 

      GPA 3.2 or equivalent

      GRE 50% or better on Verbal and Quantitative, Analytical: 4.0

      Good communication and writing skills 

      A strong interest in collaborative, interdisciplinary approaches to problem solving

 

Preferred Qualifications

      An understanding of international economic development issues

      Basic statistical skills (e.g., descriptive, bivariate, and multivariate statistics)

      Familiarity or experience with randomized control trials and/or household surveys
