CGAP Newsflash: Lessons from Designing a Mobile Money Product

On 1 March 2012, CGAP, Grameen Foundation, and MTN Uganda announced plans for a new research initiative to develop mobile financial products for the poor. Nearly one year later, the partners have moved through multiple stages of development and are now in the launch planning phase. There are unique lessons learned at each step in the process - set-up, research and ideation, customer segmentation, concept development and product design.
