Re: [MFP] MFP is completely coming to an end tomorrow

Thank you, Chuck.

I never had anything to say, I believe, but always read the list. It has been instrumental, I believe, to help shape the MF sector. It certainly has helped me to develop also other ideas in new financial sectors.

Many of the ideas I read here influenced me when working to create a end user focused crowdfunding market for financial services in Europe, also from my short time in MF back in 2006/07.

In Europe we have now passed an industry driven regulatory framework that will allow financing micro, small and medium sized businesses with investment from retail investors (access to finance should cover both sides) and clear consumer protection and transparency. Crowdfunfing in Europe has outpaced FinTechs in gaining political support (our work has even become a blue print for new sectors and been copied for the work on Crypto), because of the social inclusion aspects inherent to microfinance (and the ideas borrowed here). Sadly, microfinance over here has never been able to capture the inspiration of law makers in any similar way).

Never underestimate the influence you may have been able to deliver with this group.

Thanks for all.

Oliver

Yes Chuck
This was a happening list, with several interesting discussions generating understanding of several contexts and points of view. Sad it comes to a close just like this.
Thank you all, fellow MFP listers for the good times (and the sometimes bad) in this list.

Hi all,

Howard and I set up this email group on Yahoo on 1 May 2001, over 19 years ago. We have 2,656 members. In the past, there was a large amount of discussion on this group, but for various reasons, it currently has little activity.

I just got notice that Yahoo is closing down the email group service tomorrow. They gave not even a week's notice. As of tomorrow, your emails will be returned as unsinkable.

So this is it…. Any discussions will now have to take place on other services you've migrated to. I'm certainly not going to go to the effort of setting up a new group and managing memberships when there is so little activity on the current group.

It has certainly been an interesting (and tumultuous) 19 years. Lots of differing views on the changes that happened in so short a time. Discussions of those views will now need to take place in other venues.

Regards to all,

And yes… .it's 7am, I need to head out and milk my goats. They are wondering where I am.
