Re: [MFP] Loan Tracking Software on Microfinance Practice

Good move Howard.  We might revive discussions in this 'once vibrant' forum.

I would like to offer some questions for discussion to get some perspectives from the colleagues here.
Dear Friends,

How relevant are group based models of lending that had dominated microfinance for three decades?  Are we seeing more of individualisation of services and to what extent of digitalisation of services is driving this?  Do we think moving away from group based models is a positive development?  How will women be impacted if services, especially credit, are addressed at individuals?

Best regards

Hi All,

Some of you will remember that in the past at least one, if not several, Loan Tracking Software providers abused this forum's freedom of expression and as such we asked this group to refrain from posting messages advertising their software solutions.  As moderators, we decided that we needed to approve all messages before they were distributed to the group to prevent viruses (attachments) and achieve compliance with this policy.  As such, many of you will notice that your postings to the group are delayed somewhat until they are approved by either Chuck when he emerges from his farm life or me.

Seeing a renewed interest of communication from some of you, and understanding that there may be several (hundred?) on this group who may still be active and interested in the challenges that MFIs face, and one of them being the challenge of loan tracking software, I'm going to take a risk here in reopening this forum to discussions on loan tracking systems and their vendors for the month of August 2018.  I would ask that vendors (and others) refrain from posting messages with file attachments, and if you choose to post a message, keep it to about 300-400 words, (one printed page) describing in general your software, which will include contact information and websites for follow-up later.  Please do not over-promise and under-deliver.  Please do not post fake favorable reviews of your software.  Please be kind and respectful of others in your postings.

For those reading the posts that come, I hope you're patient over the next three weeks with the postings from software vendors if it is not in an area of interest.  And feel free to contribute a question or issue that you think should be discussed.  I imagine that many discussions have migrated to other forums, but I'm happy to continue this forum as long as it's useful to the microfinance community.

Thanks,

Howard Brady
