The ILO's Microinsurance Innovation Facility has recently released a new Research Paper titled 'Literature review on the impact of microinsurance'.
Authored by O. De Bock & D. Ugarte Ontiveros, the literature review provides an overview of recent research on the impact of microinsurance. Although some results are mixed across the studies, the review shows that microinsurance achieves positive results for a number of dimensions, including access to health and financial protection. The paper pays special attention on statistical identification of the impact and highlights channels through which microinsurance products achieve impacts.
