The June edition of Enterprise Development and Microfinance is available online. It gets to grips with how collectives can contribute to economic development. Are collectives the answer for smallholders who otherwise run the risk of being excluded from value chains? Can collectives overcome the hurdles of getting organized, acquiring skills and finance? As governments become less involved in promoting cooperatives, are collectives flourishing… or floundering? There are plenty of answers in these articles, which cover producer cooperatives as well as self-help groups.
