[MFP] CGAP Newsflash: Putting Impact Research into Practice

CGAP Newsflash: Putting Impact Research into Practice

While the body of evidence on the impact of access to financial services is growing, it's not always easy for policymakers or practitioners to apply the lessons provided by academic research to their work on the ground . A new blog series currently running on CGAP.org, Putting Impact Research into Practice , highlights ways practitioners and policymakers can use research to advance financial inclusion, inform policy, design funding strategies, and implement new approaches. The series brings together work from a variety of perspectives:

  • Jeanna Holtz,  Chief Project Manager at the Microinsurance Innovation Facility at the International Labour Organization (ILO), discusses the availability of microinsurance research and what's needed to make it more useful for policymakers and practitioners;
  • Gordon Cooper, head of Emerging Market Solutions at Visa, asserts that while there is a plethora of valuable research available, information isn't making its way into the hands of the people who need it most;
  • Betty Wilkinson, Director of Public Management, Finance and Trade Division of the Central and West Asia Department of the Asian Development Bank, maintains that presentation matters. Too much jargon and overly complicated messaging bury results and key information.

Read the blog series on CGAP.org and watch this space for updates.
