FINCA Guatemala was founded in 1998 and serves more than 40,000 clients in Guatemala City, Santa Lucia and Mazatenango.  We are now expanding to Boca del Monte, Barbarena, Sanarate and Chimaltenango and, as part of these developments, we can now offer an experienced professional the opportunity to join us as Chief Operating Officerto be based in Guatemala City.

The COO is responsible for the direction and daily management of the complete cycle of crediting activities and related operations including staffing, products, and procedures.  The key aims of the responsibilities and activities of the COO are to maximize FINCA Guatemala's outreach and positive impact in a sustainable and profitable way. As a member of the Management Team, the COO shares responsibility for the overall performance and activities of FINCA Guatemala and participates in making decisions on material issues.

To take on this mission-critical role and guide the success of FINCA Guatemala and the prosperity of our clients, you will need:
  • A minimum of 4 years of experience as a director of operations or as manager of a significant branch in banking or microfinance; previous experience of the management of a microfinance loan portfolio will be an advantage
  • A Bachelor's degree in a relevant subject and, preferably, a postgraduate degree or equivalent work experience
  • Experience in developing and implementing strategic/operational plans
  • Proven ability to deliver a high level of customer service and strong willingness to work in the field
  • Experience in managing and motivating a large staff
  • Fluency in Spanish and English
  • Availability for domestic travel (up to 30% of your time)
