The ILO's Microinsurance Innovation Facility has recently released a new Emerging Insight entitled 'Providing better services and "dignity" with insurance.'
The latest release from our bite-sized lessons series examines how a life microinsurance product can address the challenges that arise when death occurs in the family.
During development of their MAPFRE Você Tranquilo ("MAPFRE Be Calm") life insurance product, prospective clients told Banco do Brazil (BB) and MAPFRE Insurance Group that they face two challenges when a death occurs in the family. The first challenge concerned sometimes having to collect money from friends and family for the funeral and the second challenge was in accessing a range of customary funeral services.
