[MFP] RE: Excellent commentary on a paper by Jonathan Morduch and colleagues

 

Readers might wish to cast a glance at this insightful blog posting by Dr Phil Mader, which expands upon a very interesting study of alternatives to microfinance just released by Professor Jonathan Morduch and colleagues.

Note that Dr Mader was recently awarded €30,000 by the German government in a competition which placed his PhD dissertation - which was a highly critical look at the microfinance model and which concluded that it was little more than a new way of exploiting the poor - as the best PhD dissertation in all of Germany in the social sciences in 2012. His book based on his PhD will be out with Palgrave MacMillan in mid-2014.
