CGAP Newsflash: Improving the Lives of the Poorest in Peru A new blog post at CGAP.org documents field visits to communities in Peru participating as part of a pilot project in the CGAP-Ford Foundation Graduation Program. Since 2006, the Graduation Program has partnered with local organizations and governments to understand how safety nets, livelihoods and access to finance can be combined to create sustainable pathways for the poorest out of extreme poverty. Participants in the Peru pilot program demonstrated how they and their families have benefitted from livelihood training, financial services education, social work and health services. Although the results of the formal impact evaluations will only be available later this year, the stories from program participants in Peru suggest that the Graduation Program is helping to promote sustainable livelihoods and family transformation.
