[MFP] The “multiplier” effect: distributing insurance through banking correspondents

 

The ILO's Microinsurance Innovation Facility (MIF) has recently released a new Emerging Insight entitled `The "multiplier" effect: distributing insurance through banking correspondents'.

 

The latest release from our bite-sized lessons series features the experiences of Bradesco Seguros, Brazil and FINO, India. Emerging Insight #61 highlighted how many banks have developed extensive networks of "banking correspondents", non-bank outlets such as small shops or hairdressers that provide financial services and products on behalf of the bank. Our two partners are learning how to utilize these outlets to sell microinsurance.
